The Journey’s End V1 Chardonnay 2022 from Stellenbosch is a bright, fruit-forward wine with refreshing balance and a coastal influence. On the eye it shows a clear, straw colour with a hint of green. Aroma‑wise it opens with delicate citrus fruits along with orange blossom, while the palate brings forward layers of white stone fruit and a smooth, creamy texture thanks to restrained malolactic fermentation. There’s also subtle lactone character (a gentle oak‑derived flavour), mineral and saline notes that give it a sense of place, especially its coastal terroir. The finish is zesty, clean and well balanced.

Vineyard Information

In 1996 the Gabb family, originally from Shropshire, fell in love with this picturesque wine farm, restoring it to what it is now - 40 hectares of beautiful vineyards nestled amongst the Schapenberg hills benefitting from the cooling south-easterly wind, known as the "Cape Doctor", which comes in the nearby False Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.

As well as being WIETA and IPW accredited, Journey's End converted to solar power in 2014 and the farm became fully Fairtrade certified from April 2017.
